Family Support Systems
The Family Support Services Program assists customers in developing or improving their life skills, increasing independence and advancing family stability. This is established through intensive case management, budgeting, individual and family short-term solution-oriented counseling, life skills management and family centered casework.
The Family Support Program utilizes family centered casework to strengthen and enhance families by addressing the needs of individual family members and the dynamics of the family, and by enhancing interaction and communication within the family. Although the program provides no direct financial assistance, Information & Referral services help customers acquire necessary resources by navigating the social services delivery systems to meet their identified needs.
- Resident of Nashville Davidson County
- At least 18 years of age
- Individuals, Families, Elderly, Disabled and Extended Families are eligible for service
- Case Management Services, Life Management Skills, Family Centered Casework, Short Term Solution Oriented Counseling are available to individuals and families, provided by degreed Social Workers and Professionals.
- Complete initial comprehensive assessment of the presenting needs on their first visit. Services are provided for a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 6 months, depending on the individualized service plan and goals.
- Although no direct financial assistance is provided by the program, Information & Referral services help customers acquire necessary resources by navigating the social services delivery systems.
- Parenting Skill Development courses are offered by a licensed Social Worker on a sliding fee scale, which is based on the individual’s income. (Other program services are provided without a fee.)
- Services are provided Monday through Friday. Walk in customers are seen from 8 am to 3 pm daily.

The Nashville Financial Empowerment Center provides free, professional financial counseling to Nashvillians citywide.
We help Davidson County residents reduce debt and build assets through free, one-on-one financial counseling incorporated into existing services offered in the city.
Since opening in March 2013, the centers have helped over 6,000 clients and held more than 18,000 individual counseling sessions.
To date, our team has helped our clients reduce their debt by over $6.8 million and helped them increase their savings by nearly $750,000. More information can be found in the FEC 3-Year Evaluation Preliminary Findings.
The Nashville Financial Empowerment Center is a program of the Mayor’s Office in partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Nashville. Nashville is one of five cities that have received funding through Bloomberg Philanthropies’ investment in the Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Fund.

WE PROTECT – Health Insurance or a way to pay for your healthcare. We protect yourself and your family with the most appropriate and affordable health insurance or ways to pay for your healthcare. MHA offers guidance and access to State and Federal Health Insurance options for individuals and/or family members, Comprehensive Major Medical Insurance and Medicare supplement options for self-employed individuals and families, those with no group benefit options and the underinsured (insurance that does not meet one’s specific needs).
WE DIRECT- Confidential navigation through the healthcare system. Our experienced direction to remove barriers and meet your needs is our most valuable area of expertise in healthcare. MHA offers professional guidance and direction through the health care system as a personal advocate, educator and navigator to simplify and translate health insurance policies, Medicare, medical bills, healthcare reform and other medically related needs.
WE CONNECT-Connection with resources to assist to help make the client whole again. We connect you with the health care that you need through our network of resources. MHA offers access to primary care services, dental care and mental health counseling for insured individuals as well as low cost services for uninsured and lower income music industry professionals nationwide. MHA also offers counsel and access to financial help for prescription medication, medical supply resources and financial assistance for qualifying individuals.
And one more thing. . . MHA has two small funds to assist with medical needs for those in our industry that may be uninsured or under insured: 1. Ben Eyestone Fund 2. Cowboy Jack Clement Fund “The JackPot”
The Ben Eyestone Fund:
The Ben Eyestone Fund is a joint effort between Music Health Alliance and Saint Thomas Health providing diagnostic healthcare access to uninsured or under-insured music industry professionals in Davidson and surrounding counties within Middle Tennessee. This fund was created to honor the memory of Ben Eyestone who passed away on July 12, 2018. Here is Ben’s Story.
Ben Eyestone Fund Qualifications:
Obvious Diagnostic Need (I know something is wrong)
Uninsured or Under-insured (unaffordable out-of-pocket costs)
Annual household adjusted gross income under 300% above the Federal Poverty Level
Working musician or music industry professional (songwriter, producer, engineer, etc.)

The Cowboy Jack Clement Fund
The “Jack Pot” awards financial aid in the form of small grants to help cover the cost of medical bills not covered by health insurance. The “Jack Pot” also support direct client advocacy services. This fund is named in honor of one of the greatest legends of the music industry, Cowboy Jack Clement.
All health insurance revenues received by MHA go directly into the “Jack Pot” to help music makers in need just as Cowboy Jack did for so many.
