Shine On!

The Nashville Engineer Relief Fund (NERF) has a simple mission…give a hand up to Nashville audio engineers, a largely self-employed non-unionized group of music makers, when facing medical or other life crises. Engineers like Steve Marcantonio, an accomplished and respected engineer in Nashville who began his remarkable career in New York, where he was one of John Lennon’s engineers. In fact, Steve was with him at Hit Factory in NYC an hour before Lennon’s death.

When Steve was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, NERF was quick to offer assistance. He vowed then to do something special for NERF when he made it through his medical drama.

The result is And We all Shine On – A Tribute to John Lennon from Music City. This collection is executive co-produced by Marcantonio and includes Lennon penned tracks sung by some of Nashville’s supreme singer-songwriters, all who cite the genius of Lennon as inspirational. Stories abound from the performers about John Lennon’s influence on their careers. For example the song “Mother” is sung by artist James House who named his son Lennon after the slain singer/songwriter.

This project has the blessing of Lennon’s wife, Yoko Ono. She felt that the best way to honor John was that 100% of the proceeds go to NERF. John Lennon made obvious his respect for the engineers he worked with and who helped facilitate his artistry.

Now, some 40 years after John’s death, he’s still rewarding the Nashville creative community with the legacy of his artistry.
Join us for a livestreamed, moderated discussion detailing the making of the And We All Shine On: A Tribute to John Lennon from Music City charity album with its four producers: Steve Marcantonio, Nicole Cochran, Sharon Corbitt and Wayne Halper.

And We All Shine On features some of Nashville’s finest performers and utilized several of Nashville’s top studios. In addition to delving into the album’s inspiration and production, the night will include stories and tributes to John Lennon’s songwriting, recording and personal legacy. The album will be available to those who wish to make a donation to NERF as it continues its outreach through these extraordinary times.
